SIMDI Bev has launched the Maldives MONIN Cup 2026, the local edition of MONIN’s global competition platform, and opened registrations for bartenders nationwide, with winners set to advance to the regional round.

The Maldives MONIN Cup, organised by SIMDI Group’s key division SIMDI Bev, is part of MONIN’s internationally recognised competition framework, known for promoting creativity, innovation and excellence in the beverage industry. The competition serves as a flagship platform aimed at nurturing talent, strengthening industry capabilities and enhancing the Maldives’ presence in the global beverage landscape, the company said.

Building on the inaugural edition held in 2024, the competition continues to position itself as a leading platform for emerging talent within the Maldivian hospitality sector.

This year’s edition will take place at Kurumba Maldives, where shortlisted finalists will compete in a live event. Participants will be assessed on creativity, technical skills, and presentation before a panel comprising MONIN international representatives and hospitality industry experts.

Originally launched in 2014, the MONIN Cup follows a structured progression, allowing participants to advance through national, regional and international stages based on performance.

Under the 2026 format, the top seven recipe submissions will be selected to compete in the national round on 18 May. The winner will represent the Maldives at the regional stage, with the opportunity to progress to the international final in France.

SIMDI Bev will cover all expenses for the national winner’s participation at the regional competition.

Registration for the competition opened yesterday and will close on 18 April. Participation is free of charge.

The competition is open to professional bartenders and students enrolled in recognised bar schools aged 27 or below. Participants are required to bring their own tools and glassware and comply with event requirements.

SIMDI Bev has invited bartenders across the Maldives to take part, stating that the initiative supports professional development while strengthening industry standards.
