Maldives Police Service (MPS) said they will conduct an autopsy on a body discovered yesterday at a residence on Faashanaakilegefaanu Magu, Malé, at 1:10 p.m.

According to MPS, an external examination of the body, confirmed to be a man, revealed no visible signs of injuries inflicted by another party. However, given the condition of the body, the length of time since death, the nature of the location where the body was discovered, and information gathered by investigators, the police said forensic tests are required to determine the exact cause of death. Arrangements for the autopsy are currently underway.

Earlier, police said they believed the body found was a victim of suicide. In line with its policy regarding suicide cases, MPS declined to release further details then.
