The Prosecutor General’s Office has announced a series of cost-cutting measures to be implemented from 7 April to 31 May 2026, including a weekly work-from-home arrangement for employees.

Under the new measures, staff will work remotely every Tuesday as part of broader government efforts to reduce expenditure amid the impact of the ongoing Middle East conflict. Additional steps include conducting formal meetings online, reducing office hours and electricity consumption, minimising paper use, and limiting the use of office vehicles.

Employees will continue to attend the office when required, particularly for court hearings and other essential in-person duties, ensuring that critical functions are maintained.

On office working days, staff have been advised to leave after 14:00 where possible, with the official closing time brought forward to 18:00.

The measures also align with ongoing efforts to digitise operations and phase out paper-based processes within the institution.

The office has stated that public services will continue without disruption and that the changes will not result in delays to service delivery.
