The Government of the Republic of Maldives has strongly condemned an attack carried out by Israel on 8 April 2026 in parts of Lebanon, which it said resulted in the deaths of hundreds of people and injuries to thousands.
In a statement, the government described the incident as a “heinous attack” and said such actions undermine international efforts to achieve lasting peace and stability in the region, while posing a serious risk of further destabilisation.
The government called on the international community to take immediate and decisive action to hold Israel accountable for what it described as continued violations of international law and international humanitarian law.
It also expressed solidarity with the government and people of Lebanon, reaffirming its support for efforts to preserve Lebanon’s sovereignty, security and territorial integrity.
