Man Remanded in Custody Following Drug Arrest in Malé

Along with the suspect, officers apprehended approximately 38 grams of a substance suspected to be a type of narcotics.

A 44-year-old man has been remanded in custody for 10 days following his arrest in Malé in connection with a suspected drug trafficking case.

The suspect, identified as Fathuh Adam Hassanfulhu, was detained during a joint operation carried out by Counter Narcotics Intelligence and Drug Enforcement officers on the Wednesday night.

According to police, the arrest was made during a court-authorised search of a residence in Malé. During the operation, officers discovered substances suspected to be narcotics weighing approximately 38 grams.

Fathuh was arrested on suspicion of possession and use of narcotics, as well as involvement in drug trafficking.

He was presented before court following his arrest, where a judge ordered that he be held in custody for 10 days pending further investigation.

Authorities confirmed that investigations into the case are ongoing.

Police statistics show that 506 drug-related cases have been recorded so far in 2026. In comparison, more than 2,000 such cases were reported over the course of 2025.
