Advocating the Rights of Children (ARC) has conducted a two-day health camp in K. Huraa to mark World Health Day 2026, engaging 245 students in activities focused on well-being and healthy lifestyles.

The programme, held in collaboration with K. Huraa School and VitalCare Maldives, brought together children from LKG to Grade 10.

As part of the camp, more than 100 students received free health assessments conducted with support from VitalCare. The screenings included general health checks as well as consultations with a pediatric dentist and pediatrician.

Students also took part in hands-on activities aimed at promoting healthier habits. These included meal preparation sessions, where Grade 9 and 10 students prepared nine healthy snacks using different cooking methods, and shared them among participants.

A school garden initiative was also launched, with students learning how to set up and maintain an herb and vegetable garden, including composting and planting. The garden space was further enhanced through mural painting activities led by students.

In addition, children participated in mindful movement sessions focused on breathing exercises, stretching and emotional well-being, as well as book reading sessions featuring ARC’s HEAL Campaign materials, encouraging healthier food choices.

ARC expressed appreciation to the Ministry of Education, K. Huraa School, VitalCare, volunteers and the local community for supporting the initiative.

The organisation said the programme aimed to create an engaging and inclusive environment to encourage long-term healthy habits among children.
