Noonu Atoll Resort Fire Triggered Emergency Response

A fire broke out at the Soneva Jani resort in Noonu Atoll on Sunday, prompting an emergency response involving multiple agencies, police said. 

The Maldives Police Service said the incident was reported at approximately 2:04 p.m on Sunday. 

Police confirmed that officers, alongside the Maldives National Defence Force Fire and Rescue Service, were deployed to assist in extinguishing the fire, alongside resort staff.

Authorities have not yet released details of the resort, the extent of the damage, or whether there are any injuries. Although the police have not confirmed the resort, photos and videos shared on social media on Sunday showed the Soneva Jani Resort caught ablaze. Some media reported that the fire began at a restaurant at the report.
