The Maldives Qualifications Authority has urged higher education institutions to accredit their programmes in line with its updated Programme Accreditation Guidelines, warning that courses failing to comply will be deemed invalid.

The authority stated that institutions are required to seek re-accreditation for programmes previously approved under the revised framework. However, a number of institutions have yet to apply under the new guidelines despite the requirement.

Efforts by the authority to engage with these institutions through meetings have seen limited response, while around 30 institutions have reportedly been unreachable via email or telephone.

Institutions that have not yet complied have been instructed to submit the necessary information to the Maldives Qualifications Authority by 31 May.

The authority warned that programmes not accredited under the updated guidelines will be cancelled from 22 October 2027 if approval is not obtained within the stipulated timeframe.
