FENAKA Corporation has installed and commissioned a new 250kW generator on Thakandhoo, strengthening electricity supply on the island.

The generator became operational on 2 April, marking a key upgrade to the island’s energy infrastructure. The development addresses rising demand for reliable electricity, driven by population growth and increasing household needs.

The installation forms part of a broader government initiative to enhance electricity capacity across the Maldives. The strategy aims to provide stable power to both urban centres and remote islands, supporting equitable development and improving quality of life nationwide.

According to FENAKA Corporation, the new generator is expected to resolve longstanding electricity challenges faced by the island’s community. The upgrade is anticipated to ensure a more stable and sufficient power supply, supporting daily living requirements as well as future economic activity on the island.
