MV+ News Desk | April 22, 2026

Maldives Airports Company Limited has announced temporary changes to traffic flow at Velana International Airport from 23 April to 30 April 2026. The diversion will be in effect daily between 00:00 hrs and 05:00 hrs.

Stated by MACL, the adjustments are required to facilitate essential maintenance work on the roof of the Terminal 2 pedestrian crossing. According to the company, these measures aim to ensure safety while work is carried out.

During this period, taxis transporting passengers to both international and domestic terminals must drop off passengers at Terminal 1, Departure Gates 1 and 2. The Terminal 2 taxi stop will remain closed during these hours.

Bus operations will also be affected. The company stated that Maldives Transport and Contracting Company buses will use only the West Parking internal bus stop for boarding and alighting passengers.

In addition, MACL internal bus services will see route changes. Internal Bus Route 1, which starts from ATC, will terminate at Terminal 1 Arrival Gate 1. Meanwhile, Route 2 services heading towards the water supply area will begin from the roundabout near Terminal 2.

The company stated that all airport bus schedules will remain unchanged despite the diversion. These measures will apply strictly between midnight and 05:00 hrs each day.

MACL stated that travelers should allow extra time when heading to the airport during the affected hours, as minor delays may occur due to the temporary changes.

MACL has urged all passengers and airport users to take note of the revised arrangements and plan their journeys accordingly.
