Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov and the then Maldivian Foreign Minister Abdulla Khalil.
Maldivian nationals will now be able to travel to Azerbaijan without a visa for stays of up to 90 days, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced.
In a press release issued Tuesday, the ministry said the exemption applies to holders of ordinary Maldivian passports and came into effect today.
The arrangement follows the entry into force of a reciprocal visa exemption agreement signed between the Maldives and Azerbaijan on 24 September 2025. A separate agreement covering holders of diplomatic and official passports has been in place since 18 June 2025, according to the ministry.

Under the new rules, Maldivians may enter and stay in Azerbaijan for up to 90 days from the date of arrival. However, the ministry highlighted that those intending to stay longer or travel for work, study, or business purposes will be required to obtain the relevant visa prior to travel.
The ministry described the development as a significant milestone in the government’s broader efforts to expand visa-free travel arrangements for Maldivian citizens.
