President Dr Mohamed Muizzu will undertake a state visit to Sri Lanka from 3 to 6 May at the invitation of President Anura Kumara Disanayaka.

According to the President’s Office, President Muizzu is scheduled to meet senior Sri Lankan officials and hold official talks with President Disanayaka aimed at further strengthening bilateral relations between the Maldives and Sri Lanka.

The two leaders are also expected to witness the exchange of Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) signed between the two countries across various sectors.

President Muizzu will be accompanied by First Lady Sajidha Mohamed and a delegation comprising Cabinet ministers and senior government officials.

The President’s Office said President Muizzu remains committed to strengthening relations with countries that contribute significantly to the Maldives’ development and progress.

The visit follows President Disanayaka’s trip to the Maldives in July last year to mark the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries. The President’s Office described the occasion as a reflection of the longstanding ties and close friendship between the Maldives and Sri Lanka.
