An agreement has been signed between the Department of National Registration (DNR) and the Maldives Correctional Service to facilitate the verification of information required by the Correctional Service.
The agreement was signed by Deputy Minister of Homeland Security and Technology Ahmed Aly and Commissioner of Prisons Hassan Zareer.
According to the Department of National Registration, the agreement is expected to improve the accuracy of information while making verification processes faster and more efficient.
The department said verifying family information would help confirm whether individuals visiting inmates are family members. It added that the arrangement would also ensure access to more complete and up-to-date information related to inmates.
The Maldives Correctional Service stated that the agreement would make it easier to verify information related to inmates and detainees under its supervision, as well as details concerning their families.
