Maldives Ambassador to Japan Presents Credentials to Emperor Naruhito

The Maldives’ newly appointed Ambassador to Japan, Ahmed Mahloof, has formally presented his Letters of Credence to His Majesty Emperor Naruhito, marking the official start of his tenure as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Maldives to Japan.

The credentials were presented during a ceremony held at the Imperial Palace in Tokyo. Following the presentation, Emperor Naruhito welcomed Ambassador Mahloof, congratulated him on his appointment, and wished him success in carrying out his duties.

Ambassador Mahloof conveyed warm greetings and good wishes from President Dr Mohamed Muizzu and the people of the Maldives. He also expressed his commitment to further strengthening the longstanding bilateral relations and close cooperation between the Maldives and Japan.

The Maldives and Japan established formal diplomatic relations on 14 November 1967. The two countries are set to mark the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations next year, providing an opportunity to further reflect on decades of cooperation across development, diplomacy, and people-to-people ties.

Ambassador Mahloof was accompanied at the ceremony by Deputy Ambassador Ahmed Adil and Second Secretaries Hawwa Samha, Aminath Raziyya, and Ashraf Ali of the Maldives’ Embassy in Japan.
