Electricity services in F. Magoodhoo and R. Innamadhoo are set to improve following the delivery of two new 400 kW generators, says Fenaka Corporation, aimed at strengthening power generation capacity in the islands.

The gensets were procured by Fenaka Corporation as part of its ongoing efforts to enhance and sustain electricity services across inhabited islands.

According to Fenaka, the two generators were delivered to Magoodhoo and Innamadhoo on Thursday, with installation work currently underway. Authorities expect installation to be completed and the units brought into operation by the end of the day.

In Magoodhoo, electricity is currently being supplied using a 400 kW and a 150 kW generator. The addition of the new unit is expected to ease existing power shortages and help meet rising electricity demand on the island.

In Innamadhoo, three generators are currently in operation with a combined installed capacity of 1,000 kW. However, all existing units are required to run simultaneously to maintain supply. Officials said the new generator will improve operational efficiency and help ensure uninterrupted electricity service.

Fenaka stated that once both gensets are fully installed and operational, electricity service reliability and capacity in both islands will see significant improvement.
