The Maldives Police Service (MPS) has announced a temporary road closure along the northern section of Boduthakurufaanu Magu in Malé due to planned tarring works.

According to the police, the road will be closed from 11:50pm today in areas west of the road leading towards the Carnival area.

MPS has advised the public not to park any vehicles near the barricaded zone and warned that action will be taken against vehicles found parked in restricted areas.

The police apologised for any inconvenience caused and urged road users to follow instructions during the closure period.

MPS did not say for how long the road would be closed.

According to MTCC, utility works under Phase 1 of the Malé North Side Boduthakurufaanu Magu Road Project have been fully completed, including the installation of sewer lines, water pipe connections, stormwater catchpits, and cable junctions. The company also said subgrading works are progressing, with work on Segments 3 and 2 underway following the completion of Segments 5 and 4. MTCC added that asphalt-laying machinery is scheduled to be mobilised on 1 July 2026, and that the road section between Henveyru Terminal and the entrance to the Carnival parking zone will be temporarily closed while asphalt works are carried out.
