Police Recover MVR 611,000 in Theft and Robbery Cases in One Week as Theft Remains Most Reported Crime

The Maldives Police Service has recovered cash and items valued at MVR 611,416 in connection with reported theft and robbery cases between 28 June and 4 July.

According to police data, the recovered amount includes both physical cash and the estimated value of items retrieved during investigations into reported theft and robbery cases.

Galolhu Police Station recorded the highest recovery value during the period, recovering items and cash worth MVR 233,881. This was followed by Henveiru Police Station with MVR 175,000 and Maafannu Police Station with MVR 104,008.

The Special Enforcement Team recovered items valued at MVR 97,900, while Villimalé Police Station recorded recoveries amounting to MVR 627 during the same period.

The police did not specify the number of cases linked to the recovered items or provide details on the nature of the theft and robbery incidents.

According to statistics published by the Maldives Police Service, theft remains the most reported crime category so far this year, with 1,759 theft cases recorded.

Police data further shows that 534 cases involving lost items and 81 robbery cases have been reported during the year.
