Motorcyclist Killed in Collision with Lorry in Malé

A motorcyclist has died following a collision with a lorry on Boduthakurufaanu Magu near Dharubaaruge in Malé today, police have confirmed.

The Maldives Police Service said the accident was reported at approximately 3:57 p.m.

According to police, the injured man was taken to Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH), where medical staff informed officers that he had already died before arriving at the hospital.

Police identified the victim only as a male and have not yet released further details.

The cause of the collision has not been disclosed, and police said additional information will be shared as it becomes available. 

Although the police have not shared further details, an eyewitness, talking to MV+, described the scene as “brutal”.
