Independence Day Ceremony to Proceed Without Official Reception

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has decided that this year’s Independence Day will be observed without the traditional official reception, in line with arrangements made last year.

The decision was made as part of the government’s ongoing efforts to reduce state expenditure, according to the President’s Office.

The official Independence Day ceremony will proceed as scheduled at 9:00am on Independence Day at the Maldives Centre for Social Education.

President Muizzu is scheduled to address the nation during the ceremony.
