The Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has said construction of the Media Village in Hulhumalé is expected to be completed by the end of July.

HDC said the project has entered its final stage, with remaining work focused on painting, installing office partitions, completing ceiling works and other minor finishing tasks. The corporation aims to complete all work by 31 July.

The Media Village is being developed on the ground floor of the Manhattan Grand Hotel in Hulhumalé Phase One and will provide 34 office and studio spaces for media organisations.

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu previously said the facility would be opened for use by media organisations by the middle of this year.

The government has said the project is intended to reduce the financial burden on media organisations that currently rent office space in private buildings at high costs. According to the President, the new facility will offer office and studio space at affordable rates, enabling media organisations to direct more of their income towards developing the sector.
