Ooredoo Maldives Marks 21st Anniversary with ChildSafe AirFibre Service and Customer Offers
Ooredoo Maldives has announced a range of new products, services, and promotional offers to mark its 21st anniversary on 1 August, including the launch of ChildSafe Parental Control for eligible 5G AirFibre customers.
The telecommunications provider said the anniversary celebrates more than two decades of operations in the Maldives since becoming the country’s first private telecommunications provider in 2005. According to the company, Ooredoo has played a key role in advancing the nation’s digital transformation through investments in mobile networks, submarine cable systems, digital financial services, artificial intelligence-powered customer services, and international digital partnerships.
Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director Shadi Qawasmi said the anniversary reflects the trust customers have placed in the company over the past 21 years.
“As we celebrate 21 years in the Maldives, we celebrate the trust our customers have placed in us and the incredible journey we have shared together. Every milestone we have achieved has been made possible by the people of the Maldives, our partners, and our dedicated employees. While we are proud of what we have accomplished together, our focus remains firmly on the future as we continue building a smarter, safer, and more inclusive Digital Maldives powered by innovation,” Qawasmi said.
Among the new launches is Truecaller Premium, which customers can now subscribe to through Ooredoo billing without requiring a separate payment method. The service offers features including enhanced spam and scam protection, Incognito Mode, profile view insights, contact requests, an advert-free experience and a premium verification badge.
Ooredoo also introduced ChildSafe Parental Control for eligible 5G AirFibre customers. The service enables parents to manage internet access and use parental control features on supported home broadband devices to create a safer online environment for children. The company stated that the service will be available free of charge throughout August 2026.
As part of the anniversary celebrations, Ooredoo has also launched several customer promotions throughout August.
Eligible prepaid and postpaid customers can redeem a free 21GB data pack through the Ooredoo Super App on 1 August, with the offer valid for one day.
Customers who spend MVR 400 or more using Mastercard on the Ooredoo Super App will be entered into a lucky draw to win return air tickets to Malaysia for two. Additional entries are available for customers who save their Mastercard details or activate AutoPay.
Prepaid customers who recharge MVR 400 or more will also have the opportunity to win return tickets to Dhaka sponsored by Maldivian. Winners will be selected every 10 days during August before quarterly draws continue over the following year.
The company has also announced that the first 100 customers who upgrade to eligible Club Premier plans priced at MVR 1,000 or above during August will receive a MVR 100 Huopan app discount voucher valid until 31 December 2026.
Existing SuperNet Unlimited customers who upgrade to the next eligible plan will receive higher internet speeds while continuing to pay their current monthly fee for the first three months. In addition, SuperNet customers can purchase a special anniversary add-on offering 21GB at 21Mbps for seven days for MVR 21.
Ooredoo also confirmed that the Ooredoo Fun Run will return on 11 December 2026 in Hulhumalé. The annual community event is expected to bring together thousands of participants for a day focused on fitness and family activities.
As part of the conclusion of its 20th anniversary #LiveUnlimited campaign, Ooredoo announced Ms Misriyya Ali as the winner of the grand prize of a Hajj trip for two, following the award of 19 Umrah pilgrimages during the campaign.
Ooredoo stated that they will continue investing in next-generation technologies, digital services and community initiatives to support a more connected and digitally inclusive Maldives.
