Ooredoo Maldives Names New Chairperson and Board Directors

Ooredoo Maldives has announced the appointment of a new Chairperson, two Board Directors on the Ooredoo Maldives Board and Company Secretary on 1st August 2026.

Ahmad Abdulaziz A A Al-Naema steps into the role of Chairman and Independent, Non-Executive Director. A Qatari national, Al-Naema currently oversees strategic operations in multiple countries as the Group Regional Chief Executive Officer for North Africa and Asia at Ooredoo Group.

Joining him on the board are Khalid Hassan M A Al-Hamadi and Saim Yaksan. Al-Hamadi, previously the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Ooredoo Maldives, assumes the position of Non-Independent, Non-Executive Director. Yaksan, a German national who holds the role of Group Chief Procurement Officer, joins as an Independent, Non-Executive Director. All three men serve as nominated representatives of Wataniya International FZ-LLC, Ooredoo Maldives said. 

Additionally, the telecommunications company appointed Arushee Mohamed as its new Company Secretary. A Maldivian national, Arushee has worked with Ooredoo Maldives since 2016 and previously held the titles of Head of Investor Relations and Assistant Company Secretary.

The recent changes follow the departure of former Chairperson Fatima Sultan Al-Kuwari and former Board Directors George Bowring Challenor and Vikram Sinha. Furthermore, Mohamed succeeds the outgoing Company Secretary, SHC Law & Tax 1188 LLP.
