The President and First Lady Meet with Maldivian Contingent for IOIG 2023

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and First Lady Fazna Ahmed met with the Maldivian contingent participating in the 11th edition of the Indian Ocean Island Games (IOIG) in the Republic of Madagascar this year, yesterday.
The meeting was held at the Maldives Centre for Social Education (MCSE).

During the ceremony, the flag bearers for the Maldives at IOIG 2023 were announced as famous tennis player Mr. Abdulla Faih Fazeel and famous table tennis player Ms. Fathimath Dheema Ali. President Solih presented the flag to Ms. Fathimath Dheema Ali, which will be flown during the games.
A total of 176 athletes from the Maldives will participate in 9 sporting events at this year’s IOIG, including table tennis, tennis, handball, para-athletics, swimming, and basketball. The games will be held in Madagascar from August 25 to September 3, 2023.
The administration places significant emphasis on providing opportunities for Maldivian athletes to realise their full potential and on fostering a talented, capable, and healthy young generation.
