Addressing the audience, Solih conveyed that the upcoming year’s budget has been allocated to augment the salaries of several vital sectors, including police, army personnel, customs officers, immigration officers, and those within the judiciary. Furthermore, this salary enhancement will encompass all state employees, ranging from council administrative personnel to imaams and mudhims.

This initiative stands to significantly bolster the financial prospects of approximately 44,280 government employees. Solih emphasised that the alteration in salaries would yield an average increment of 40%. In light of this revision, the average remuneration of a police officer is projected to elevate to MVR 11,000, with a minimum of MVR 15,400.

The salary of an police officer is poised to experience a surge, rising from MVR 11,500 to MVR 16,100. Likewise, the remuneration of a standard council employee will witness an increase from MVR 7,200 to MVR 10,500. Furthermore, civil service directors will witness a salary elevation from MVR 16,000 to MVR 23,200.

The government’s overarching objective revolves around bridging the income disparity across diverse sectors through the National Pay Framework, thereby fostering sustainable growth via a framework.

This drive towards equity is exemplified by the salary adjustments extended to employees within three pivotal realms. These include healthcare professionals, educators, and university staff members.
