Ahmed Faris Maumoon, an independent candidate running in the upcoming presidential election, has voiced his apprehensions about the candidates who secure their positions through offering jobs and financial incentives rise to power.

Faris strongly criticised the practice of luring voters through the promise of employment opportunities, asserting that this tactic undermines the democratic process and steers individuals towards specific political ideologies.

He urged for a cessation of such actions, emphasising the need for a fair and transparent electoral environment.

Taking aim at the incumbent government and previous administrations, Faris accused them of leveraging state resources and authority to secure victory in the presidential race, often under the guise of campaign activities.

He asserted that curbing such practices requires collective efforts from the public. Faris contended that individuals who secure their election wins through the distribution of money and jobs lack the capacity to effectively govern a nation.

“Recurring instances of monetary distribution during election periods and attempts to influence voters cast a shadow over the legitimacy of the process. I implore those contemplating such actions to recognise the legal implications of their actions,” Faris remarked.

In his campaign manifesto, Faris proposed an amendment aimed at curbing the announcement of new projects in the lead-up to presidential or parliamentary elections. This amendment would also restrict any undertakings apart from ongoing state initiatives.
