As of non-government holidays, the National Center for Cultural Heritage will be accessible to the public between 10:15 am and 3:30 pm.

With assistance from the Bank of Maldives, the refurbishment project encompasses the installation of state-of-the-art display cases, digital screens, and informative kiosks, as well as an extensive museum renovation.

Notably, the National Center for Cultural Heritage has contributed MVR 2 million under the umbrella of BML’s corporate social responsibility initiatives.

Alterations have been enacted in the spatial layout of the museum, accompanied by a contemporary overhaul of the temperature regulation system.

A network of security cameras has also been integrated throughout the premises. The state budget allocation for these endeavors amounts to MVR 4.7 million, complemented by a financial contribution of over MVR 100,000 from the Heritage Trust Fund, designated for supplementary developmental undertakings.

Eager to extend its services, the National Center for the Protection of Cultural Heritage has outlined its intentions to further refine the museum’s offerings. The completion of these enhancements coincides with the museum’s reopening, featuring previously unexhibited artefacts.

The contract for the development of the National Museum was signed off to Dino Construction Pvt Ltd in May of the current year.

Serving as a comprehensive repository, the museum offers a holistic portrayal of the nation’s history, heritage, and cultural tapestry.

In addition to housing a wealth of information concerning Maldives’ transformative journey, monarchical reigns, and celebratory occasions, the museum showcases a diverse array of artifacts that chronicle the lives of its inhabitants throughout various eras. These items collectively capture the essence of the people’s art, culture, and heritage.
