Officials from ECM have been working diligently to transport essential documents and security items to polling stations in the northern atolls. However, the delivery process has encountered setbacks due to adverse weather conditions, causing slight delays.

In tandem with the material distribution, the MPS has initiated the deployment of police officers to the atolls, with a primary focus on maintaining security during the presidential election. The deployment extends to all inhabited islands, ensuring a comprehensive security presence throughout the election period. To swiftly respond to any unforeseen emergencies, a dedicated police team has been assigned to each region.

MPS authorities have reassured the public that police officers are well-informed about the relevant elections-related procedures and regulations, underscoring their commitment to maintaining security and upholding the democratic process.

The first round of voting is scheduled for September 9, with the possibility of a second round on September 30. The eligible voting population for this election stands at approximately 282,000 voters.
