Mohamed Nazim, the presidential candidate representing the Maldives National Party (MNP), has outlined his vision for the nation, emphasising his commitment to effecting a profound economic transformation.

During the presidential debate held last night, Nazim underscored that his mission is not about changing governments but rather about instigating substantial national improvements. He pointed to his prior contributions during the administrations of former Presidents Mohamed Nasheed and Abdullah Yameen as evidence of his dedication to the nation’s betterment.

Nazim firmly denied any intention to change the government, dismissing various allegations made by some leaders as unfounded apprehensions. He stated, “I am not intending to change the government at all. I am working for progress and development.”

His presidential campaign focuses on ushering in an economic revolution in the Maldives. To achieve this, Nazim pledged to address several critical issues, including healthcare accessibility, the presence of foreign troops, youth employment, and housing shortages.

“I will strive to eliminate the need for medical treatment, withdraw foreign troops, provide employment opportunities, and ensure affordable housing for our youth,” he affirmed. Additionally, he committed to offering free education and promoting family unity among the populace.

Nazim’s economic vision involves restructuring the nation’s debt and launching new economic initiatives. He projected that within two years, developments in the aviation and hospitality sectors would enhance profitability. Furthermore, he pledged to develop the tourism, fisheries, technology, and IT industries to bolster the nation’s economy.

Addressing the housing crisis, Nazim unveiled plans to establish urban areas in two regions of the country, offering a solution that doesn’t infringe on existing land and property ownership.
