Independent presidential candidate Faris Maumoon has made a commitment to dismantle the existing national health insurance system, Aasandha, and introduce a new, more transparent health insurance system.

During the recent presidential debate last night, Faris voiced his concerns about the lack of regulation in the healthcare sector and characterised Aasandha as a potential source of corruption.

He went on to accuse certain politicians of misappropriating Aasandha funds. Faris vowed to end such practices and establish a transparent healthcare system to serve the best interests of the public.

In addition to this, Faris pledged to establish easily accessible hospitals within the Maldives, with the aim of reducing the need for citizens to seek medical treatment abroad. He criticised the presence of coercion in various institutions within the country, particularly in the judiciary sector, and asserted that his government would actively promote institutional freedom and liberalism.

Furthermore, Faris emphasised the significance of creating a robust, consensus-driven policy to address the major challenges facing the Maldives. He called for a departure from entrenched political ideologies and urged a focus on the overall direction and welfare of the nation.
