In a statement released by the PPM, the party categorically rejected reports circulating in certain media outlets claiming a rendezvous between Yameen and Faris. The party emphasised that this news does not align with Yameen’s support for Mohamed Muizzu, the People’s National Congress (PNC) presidential candidate.
Yameen has endorsed Muizzu’s candidacy and urged the electorate to cast their votes in his favor. However, the PPM has accused the government of attempting to sow discord among the coalition members.
The PPM’s statement addressed the alleged meeting, stating, it is false news spread by some people with the intention of dividing the members of this coalition.
Former President Abdullah Yameen and Former President Maumoon Abdul Gayyoom (Faris’s father) are half brothers.
The party maintains its stance that such reports are unsubstantiated and aimed at creating rifts within the coalition.
