The President Has Declared September 10 a National Holiday

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has declared Sunday, September 10, 2023, a government holiday, according to an official statement released yesterday by the President’s Office. 

The decision comes in response to a request submitted by the Elections Commission of the Maldives, which designated Saturday, September 9, 2023, as the voting day for the 2023 Presidential Elections.

The Presidents Office states that this declaration is aimed at facilitating the smooth conduct of the elections, as it is expected that officials from various government offices and institutions, as well as members of the general public, will be actively engaged in tasks related to the election and voting process on the preceding day.
