Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, the People’s National Congress’ (PNC) presidential candidate, has revealed his plans to establish an International Mental Health Hospital in L. Gan.
Muizzu pledged to adhere to international standards in the construction of the National Mental Health Hospital, acknowledging the severity of mental health issues in the Maldives. He firmly believes that establishing a dedicated mental health facility will reduce the need for citizens to seek treatment abroad, particularly in India.
Furthermore, Dr. Muizzu outlined his vision for healthcare in Gan. Alongside the International Mental Health Hospital, he intends to upgrade the Gan Regional Hospital into a tertiary healthcare facility with full services. This initiative aims to provide residents with advanced medical care close to home.
In addition to healthcare improvements, Dr. Muizzu is committed to addressing housing issues on the island. He plans to implement housing projects in Gan and Fonadhoo, offering affordable loans with a minimal interest rate of just five percent and no down payment requirement. This initiative is poised to make homeownership more accessible to the local population.
Infrastructure development is also a priority for the PNC candidate. Dr. Muizzu pledged to pave all roads in Gan and establish various sports facilities for the youth, enhancing recreational opportunities.
