Contact Tracing Underway After Measles Case Confirmed Again

The Health Protection Agency (HPA) has confirmed yesterday that a positive case of measles was found on the 5th of this month. 

This marks the fourth reported case of measles in the country this year.

HPA stated that the positive case of measles has been identified, and efforts to trace and contact individuals who may have been exposed to the virus are already underway.

It’s worth noting that the most recent case of measles was reported last month, on the 6th. 

Two complete doses of the measles vaccine have been proven to reduce the risk of infection by an impressive 97%. 

It’s worth recalling that Maldives had been declared measles-free in 2017. However, cases of measles have been reported in various years since then.
