Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, the People’s National Congress’ (PNC) presidential candidate, has pledged to expedite the dredging of Gulheefalhu Lagoon, Giravaru Lagoon, and Fushi Dhiggaru Lagoon within a timeframe of 6 to 12 months.
Speaking at a campaign rally in the city ahead of the upcoming presidential election on Saturday, Muizzu outlined his commitment to surpass the government’s dredging efforts by covering a larger area.
Muizzu underlined his determination to complete all dredging activities within the first six months of his administration’s tenure, rather than the previously stated timeframe of six to 12 months.
Furthermore, he revealed plans to allocate land from the newly dredged areas during the first year of his government’s tenure. Additionally, his administration aims to facilitate the construction of houses through soft loans and government-backed enterprises.
“We are committed to providing a permanent housing solution for the people of Male’,” Muizzu affirmed.
Reiterating his assurance, Muizzu emphasised that his government will extend support for building houses on the allocated land in Male city.
He urged the population to prioritise the country’s long-term interests over short-term assistance, highlighting the significance of national matters during this crucial time.
