Presidential Candidates Cast Their Ballots in 2023 Presidential Elections

Several presidential candidates have cast their votes in the 2023 Presidential Elections this morning.

Out of a total of eight candidates, five have already voted, including Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, the presidential candidate for the People’s National Congress (PNC); President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, the MDP candidate; The Democrats candidate Ilyas Labeeb; Independent candidate Ahmed Faris Maumoon; and Jumhooree Party candidate Gasim Ibrahim.

The Maldives is currently conducting the 2023 Presidential Election this Saturday. Polling stations opened at 8 a.m. and will remain open until 4 p.m. 

According to the Elections Commission of the Maldives (ECM), 282,395 individuals are eligible to participate in the election this year. The commission has made all necessary arrangements to ensure a smooth and fair electoral process.

A total of eight candidates submitted their nominations for the election. Presidential elections are held every five years, allowing citizens to exercise their democratic right to choose their leader and shape the future of the nation.
