Great Grandfather Convicted of Child Abuse Passes Away

Hassan Moosa Didi, an 85-year-old resident of Annarumaage, GA. Kanduhulhudhoo, who was serving a 25-year sentence for the sexual abuse of his two year old great grand child, has died today while in custody at Hulhumale Jail. 

The Maldives Correctional Service has reported that the cause of death was cardiac arrest.

Hassan Moosa Didi had been admitted to Hulhumale Hospital earlier in the day for medical evaluation. 

Following an examination by a doctor, it was determined that he had passed away at 9:55 am due to cardiac arrest. 

Moosa Didi had been bedridden and unable to walk due to his old age and deteriorating health.

The family of Hassan Moosa Didi, the Inspector of Correctional Service, the Maldives Police Service, the Human Rights Commission of the Maldives, and the National Integrity Commission, have been informed of his passing.

The case of Hassan Moosa Didi had garnered significant attention due to the severity of his crimes.
