HRCM Highlights Concerns Over Child’s Isolation Video

The Human Rights Commission of the Maldives (HRCM) has reported the emergence of a concerning video circulating on social media. 

ރޭގެ ވަގުތެއްގައި ހުޅުމާލެ ފޭސް 2 ގައި ހުންނަ ހިޔާ ފްލެޓުގެ ބެލްކަންޏެއްގައި ކުޑަކުއްޖަކު އެކަހެރިކޮށް، ތަޅުލާފަ ހުރި ވީޑިއޯއެއް މީސް މީޑިއާގައި ދައުރުވަމުންދާތީ އެކަމާ ގުޅިގެން ދަންނަވަމެވެ. މި މަައްސަލަ ކަމާ ބެހޭ އިދާރާތަކުން ދަނީ ބަލަމުންނެވެ.

This video allegedly depicts a child in a state of isolation, confined to a balcony within a Hiyaa flat located in Phase 2 of Hulhumale’. The authorities have initiated an investigation into the matter.

In light of this development, HRCM recommended that individuals refrain from sharing such videos on social media platforms, as their dissemination may have an indirect impact on the dignity and well-being of children involved.

HRCM also stated if any individuals come across any content resembling this nature, they urge to promptly report it to the appropriate authorities. This can contribute to ensuring the safety and protection of vulnerable individuals within the community.
