The allocated land and flats will be situated in the Northern Thilafalhu region and Hulhumale’, forming part of President Ibrahim Mohamed Soilh’s housing policy. This policy aims to provide a sustainable solution to the housing challenges faced by Male’ city’s inhabitants.
Initially, the ministry had declared its intent to allocate 6,000 flats and 4,000 land plots.
On August 8, the Housing Ministry disclosed the provisional list of flat recipients among eligible beneficiaries, comprising a total of 20,697 people. This list included 6,208 individuals eligible for two-bedroom flats and 14,489 applicants seeking three-bedroom flats.
Further analysis of the list reveals that 15,046 applicants meet the eligibility criteria, with 4,319 qualifying for two-bedroom flats and 10,727 for three-bedroom flats. In total, 13,500 flats will need to be constructed to accommodate all eligible recipients.
