In an address to his supporters, yesterday,  the presidential candidate for the Progressive National Congress (PNC), Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, laid out his commitment to establishing an independent and impartial judiciary, free from any undue influence.

He unequivocally stated that he would take swift action to remove anyone attempting to exert influence over the judiciary.

“I will not tolerate any form of coercion or undue influence within my government,” said Muizzu. “Our aim is to provide a platform for justice and fair governance.”

The candidate further emphasised, “Under my leadership, there will be no room for interference in the judiciary. If anyone occupying a position in my government is discovered attempting such actions, they will be promptly expelled.”

Muizzu expressed concern over the perceived erosion of justice within the country’s legal system and pledged to restore the judiciary’s independence.

It has been observed that several former members of the Maldivian Reform Movement (MRM) have aligned themselves with the PPM/PNC. Muizzu also engaged in door-to-door activities in Galway as part of his campaign efforts.
