Ali Zahir, the Chief of Staff of the President’s Office, has attributed the opposition’s use of the “national card” in the upcoming election because there is no substantive criticism regarding the government’s policy implementations.

A prominent contention raised by the opposition parties, Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) and People’s National Congress (PNC), revolves around the alleged presence of Indian troops within the country. The government staunchly refutes these claims, emphasising that there are no soldiers stationed for military purposes.
Furthermore, the government has introduced a housing scheme aimed at providing land within the Uthuru Thila Falhu (UTF) region.
Foreign Minister Abdullah Shahid, accused the opposition PPM of amending the Constitution to permit the sale of the nation’s land to foreigners. In response, Ali Zahir re-iterated that the current administration would safeguard every inch of the nation’s territory and urged the populace not to be misled by such narratives.
