ECM, responsible for overseeing electoral processes in the Maldives, conducted a review of the campaign activities carried out by the two candidates.

Habeeb affirmed that the campaign period had concluded in a peaceful and orderly manner.

Habeeb, while addressing the public, urged citizens to refrain from any further campaign activities and SMS outreach, as the campaign period has officially come to an end. Additionally, he stressed the importance of respecting the rights of all candidates and refraining from any actions that may infringe upon those rights.

“We are very pleased that the campaign conducted by the two candidates at the end of the campaign ended very peacefully and smoothly in a very friendly atmosphere. The police also worked hard to organise it very well,” Habeeb noted.

The two candidates who secured the highest number of votes in the first round of the presidential election, namely the PNC presidential candidate Dr. Mohamed Muizzu and the MDP presidential candidate President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, are currently competing in the second round of the election.

Voting is scheduled to take place from 08:00 am to 05:00 pm, ensuring that citizens have ample time to exercise their democratic rights in a peaceful and orderly manner.
