Second Round of Presidential Election Records High Voter Turnout Exceeding 86%

The Elections Commission of Maldives (ECM) has reported that the second round presidential election, witnessed a notable surge in voter participation, with the turnout surpassing 86 percent.

Fuad Thaufeeq revealed that their data analysis voter turnout is 245,390 which is approximately 86.77%.
The eligible voter pool for this election comprised 282,804 individuals, comprising 144,410 men and 138,394 women. This number represents a slight increase from the 282,395 eligible voters who participated in the initial round of voting on September 9.
The initial round registered a turnout of 79.85 percent, marking the lowest voter participation rate in a presidential election to date.
During the first round of elections, eight candidates vied for the presidency, with none securing a decisive majority of votes, leading to the runoff.
In the initial round of the presidential election held on September 9, Dr. Muizzu emerged as the frontrunner with a significant 46.06% of the vote, while President Solih secured 39.05%, establishing themselves as the primary contenders for the runoff.
