Planning Ministry Allows Applications for Flats and Land During Transition Period

The Planning Ministry has announced that applications for the second phase of the Binveriya scheme and the Gedhoruveriya scheme, pertaining to both flats and land, will be accepted throughout the transition period.
The Planning Ministry has also highlighted that the second phase of the Gedhoruveriya scheme and the householder scheme have already been unveiled, and the application process will seamlessly continue even during the change of government.
Prospective applicants have until the 24th of this month to submit their applications.
It’s noteworthy that joint applications or applications submitted in the name of multiple individuals have the potential to secure larger land lots, with the size extending up to 400 acres.
In this phase of the government’s housing initiative, lands and flats will be allocated in the Northern Thilafalhu region and Hulhumale’.
The Planning Ministry has outlined plans to dredge an extensive area, amounting to 215 hectares, for housing purposes, with a total allocation of 5.5 million acres. The minimum size for allocated land plots has been set at 1,250 acres.
Applicants must meet certain eligibility criteria, including Maldivian citizenship and a minimum age requirement of 18 years. Additionally, individuals who currently hold land under the Gedhoruveriya Scheme or the Veshi Fahi Male’ Programme are not eligible to apply.
Furthermore, long-time residents of the Male’ city, with a minimum of 20 years of residence, and those who have been registered for the same duration, are also eligible to submit applications for land and flats.
