The Health Protection Agency (HPA) has officially initiated the Zero Leprosy external verification process, with the goal of certifying a minimum of 100 islands as leprosy-free by the year 2023.

This significant development underscores the nation’s commitment to eradicating leprosy within its borders, a disease with ancient roots.

A dedicated team of independent experts have undertaken the initiative in partnership with the Global Leprosy Programme at the World Health Organization (WHO).

This initiative represents a crucial step forward in the global effort to combat leprosy, demonstrating the country’s proactive stance in the fight against this age-old affliction.
