Australia Praises New Government’s “Pro-Maldives” Foreign Policy

The Australian High Commissioner to Maldives, David Jessup, lauded the foreign policy of the incoming government during a courtesy meeting with President-elect Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.
The gathering also witnessed the presence of the Vice-President-elect Hussain Mohamed Latheef.

During their discussions, the Australian High Commissioner and the President-elect explored avenues to further enhance the relationship between their countries with Muizzu expressing his optimism that under his leadership, the partnership between Maldives and Australia would reach new heights.
Muizzu took the opportunity to extend his gratitude to the Australian Government for its support in providing higher education opportunities for Maldivian students.
He acknowledged the longstanding and multifaceted collaboration between the two nations and expressed his desire for these ties to continue to prosper in the coming years.
In a statement, the Australian High Commissioner assured Maldives of Australia’s commitment to bolstering bilateral relations.
He also commended the new government’s Pro-Maldives foreign policy, aligning with the sentiment of increased cooperation and partnership.
Maldives and Australia established their political relations in 1974.
