In a press conference hosted by the President-elect’s office, Director General of Transition Abdul Raheem Abdullah shared insights into the ongoing preparations for the transitional phase.
This marked Abdul Raheem’s first engagement with the media following the conclusion of the presidential election campaign.
Appointed by President-elect Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, Abdul Raheem affirmed that the change of government is in full swing. Abdhul Raheem has said that these efforts have garnered support from various companies and institutions.
It is also worth noting that Abdul Raheem took the opportunity to dispel rumors of a halt on certain island projects. He clarified that the directive to refrain from initiating further new projects was due to the divergent policies of the incoming government compared to Muizzu’s administration.
He pledged to uphold his promises to the public over the next five years.
The transition of power, set to take place on November 17, has prompted the President-elect to assemble a series of committees committees, including 14 main committees and sub-committees, with over 500 members. These committees have been tasked with facilitating the transfer of government authority to the incoming administration.
