Presently, he holds the position of CEO at Channel 13, a role he assumed following his departure as Police Commissioner in 2015.

His resignation from the CP position was prompted by the explosion on former President Abdulla Yameen’s speedboat. Subsequently, he served as a State Minister at the Housing Ministry before taking up a State Ministerial position at the Youth Ministry.

Waheed continued his role at the Youth Ministry until the end of Yameen’s administration.

The current Minister of Youth and Sports, Ahmed Mahloof, has also declared his candidacy for the position of Malé Mayor.
