The Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure has revealed plans for the allocation of land to 684 individuals in Uthuru Thila Falhu (UTF) during the upcoming phase of the permanent list.
A total of 19,639 individuals are eligible for inclusion in the permanent list of land recipients, with 18,955 set to receive land before the current term concludes.
Among the eligible candidates, 684 individuals listed will not be granted land in this term. The ministry has assured them that they will have the opportunity to obtain land through the government’s forthcoming housing scheme.
The Housing Ministry has emphasised that these individuals do not need to submit separate applications for this new opportunity. However, if any individual on the list wishes to apply jointly with another person for the second phase of the Binveriya Scheme, launched by the government last month, such an option is available. It is important to note that previous applications for the Binveriya scheme must be cancelled.
Initially, the government had intended to allocate 5,000 plots of land in the area. However, considering the significance of this initiative for the region, it was later decided to provide land to all individuals meeting the necessary criteria on the list.
Out of these, 9,685 individuals are eligible, and 9,001 will be granted land before the term concludes. Including joint applicants, more than 19,000 residents will benefit from this scheme.
