His remarks came during the conclusion of the 66th Traffic Monitors program at Izzuddin School, where he underscored the significance of the MPS initiatives.
Addressing the audience at the closing ceremony, Faisal underscored the pervasiveness of dangerous accidents even in smaller communities. He called upon the populace to acknowledge and support the strides undertaken by the police in curtailing such incidents.
Emphasising the perilous nature of roads in the absence of safety measures, he stressed that in road accidents, it’s often the innocent bystanders who suffer rather than the violators or recklessly behaving individuals.
Highlighting the concerning statistics, he cited a tally of over 18,000 road accidents in the Maldives over the last five years. Furthermore, Faisal brought attention to a significant number of incidents occurring in sea transport.
Expressing the frequency of road accidents as a near-daily occurrence, he urged a collective reflection on this issue, emphasising the imperative need for adherence to road regulations and personal responsibility for safety.
Moreover, he lauded the impact of the Traffic Monitors program in educating numerous students about road safety measures. Faisal stressed that this initiative catered not solely to students but to the broader populace, asserting its universal importance.
Encouraging the graduates of the Traffic Monitors Program, Faisal urged them to apply the knowledge they’ve gained and to leverage their educational lessons in striving for personal development.
Additionally, he advised students to propagate road safety messages amongst themselves and to courageously seek and share such essential information.
