MET Office Issues Yellow Alert from Laamu to Addu

The Maldives Meteorological Service (MMS) has issued a yellow allert for the region spanning from Laamu atoll to Addu city.

This alert is in effect from 15:30 hours to 19:30 hours, today. The forecast warns of torrential rain and thunderstorms, with gusts of upto 40mph and rough seas within the affected region.

The MMS recommends that individuals residing in or visiting the affected regions remain alert and take appropriate safety measures.

MMS categorises weather alerts as follows:

  • White alert: Alert Level 1
  • Yellow advisory: Alert Level 2
  • Orange warning: Alert Level 3
  • Red warning: Alert Level 4

The National Disaster Management Authority has also released precautionary measures related to these weather forecasts
